It was my privilege to attend Women's Conference at BYU last week. Classes were held all day Thurs. & Fri. It was announced on Wed. that the concluding speaker would be our new prophet, Thomas S. Monson. I went with friends Robyn & Susan and we had a fabulous time!!! On Friday Susan & I camped out all day on those wonderful plastic chairs in the Marriott Center so that we could have the best seats possible for Pres. Monson's talk. It was worth it! There were about 20,000 women there and as Pres. Monson entered the room it was immediatley silent and everyone stood. He made his way, behind his wife, to the stand. As he did everyone spontaneously started singing "We Thank Thee Oh God for a Prophet". It was very moving.
Later when I was relating the experience to Joe he commented on the press coverage he had seen recently when the Pope visited the States. He said that as his car drove down the street people were jumping and screaming in histerics like you would see at a rock concert. To contrast that to the reverence and respect shown to our prophet is a stark comparison.
His message was inspiring and the Spirit was undeniable. How thankful I am to KNOW that we have a living prophet who leads the church of Jesus Christ. To literally sit at the feet of a prophet and be taught is a privilege I will never pass up.
Although Women's Conf. was Thurs. & Fri. we left on Wed. morning and stopped by Good Things Utah on the way down. After going with my Mom a few weeks ago Robyn & Susan said it looked like fun. It was fun and we came away with some faboulous swag!!! We were given a cute green box that had a small pkg. of black licorice carmels that were very yummy (Robyn's didn't make it out of the parking lot), some cute chip board letters from Robert's Craft, a bag of Don Jullio chips and a beautiful lap quilt done in pink and browns! We couldn't believe they gave us all a quilt. It was a company called "My Quilter Girl" where you can go online and choose the fabrics and design of a quilt and they will make it for you. Their website is www.myquiltergirl.com. It was amazing!! It was like Christmas!! Then we got to take some pics with the girls. It was fun!

Our great gifts!!

The rest of the day was spent eating, shopping, eating, playing cards and more eating! We stayed with Susan's mom who lives only 1 ml. from campus. Wilma was such a gracious host and insisted on Robyn & I sleeping in her bed! She was so cute! It was fun to get to know Susan better! She had a lot of great tips and ideas on how to be more HAPPY!! I have not laughed so much in a very, very long time. There is something completley magical and theraputic about a "Girlfriends Getaway". It had been a looooong time since I have had one and it was three days of pure joy. I feel very blessed to have friends that I can laugh with, joke with and have incredible spiritual experiences with. I will forever be a better person for their friendships! Until next year, Thunder & Flossi, keep the faith!
p.s. Sister Braegger, next year we're not taking no for an answer!! We have a roll of duct tape and we're not afraid to use it!!
