Lastnight I was laying on my bed watching t.v. Amanda came and snuggled up to me and we both fell asleep. I was only asleep for about 20 min. or so when I woke up at 8:10 and saw a "Breaking News" segment on ch. 5 news and at the bottom is said that President Hinckley had died. I had to look around for a minute because I thought I was dreaming. But it was true. He had died at 7:00 pm in his apartment in SLC surrounded by his family.
I went downstairs and told Joe and the boys. They were all stunned. I then tried to call mom and dad but they didn't answer. I called Robyn and she hadn't heard yet. Mom and dad called back later and I told them.
It's just one of those things that I never thought would happen. Pres. Hickley has played a significant part in the leadership of the church for as long as I can remember. We kind of feel a personal link to him because my Grandpa Henderson was in the same mission with Pres. Hinckley. My grandpa knew him and I think they even lived in the same "flat". In 1996 Joe, Joshua & I had the privledge of going to the church office building and meeting Pres. Hinckley in person. Joshua was only about 18 mon. old. We took some pictures that my grandma had of the flat that he had lived in in England. When we showed the pictures to him he know exactly where each one was taken. He even remembered the address of the flat. He said that his historian already had pictures that were similar to the ones we had but thanked us for bringing them. He thought he could still remember my grandpa. I will never forget shaking his hand. I absolutley knew before that experience that he was a "THE" prophet of God. That experience only solidified my testimony in concrete!
What a legacy he leaves behind. Can you imagine the line of people waiting for him on the other side. I'm sure Marjorie was first in line. I think more than any other prophet he has brought the church out of obscurity and helped people to understand who and what we are. He has taken temples to the people. He led 13 million people on a level that we could all relate to. I will miss him!
The cute little love birds!

I arrived at the gym this morning just after 7:00 am and The Today Show had just come on. I watched intently waiting to hear the news about Pres. Hinckley. But all they had to talk about was politics, Buckingham Palace, SAG Awards and The Superbowl. all of which pale in comparison to the importance of this man and the life he has led. I am hoping that they just hadn't received the news yet.
