I decided I would do a blog highlighting each of my kids and give you a little snippet of their lives and personalities! I will start with Amanda for no particular reason since I am not bias and have the same amount of love for each of my children and certainly don't have favorites. Do you think that is enough disclaimer?!?
Amanda is our April Fools baby, 2002. She is ALL girl ALL the time! The word "pink" describes her to a tee! We're not sure where that DNA came from but it has brought a whole new dimension to a house full of boys! Amanda has already decided that she is going to be a "Fingernail Girl' when she grows up. It wouldn't suprise me in the least! Before school started I took her to get her hair cut by one of our neighbors who has a salon in her home. Afterwards Amanda exclaimed, "I'm so glad I have my own haircut girl now!" Then she asked, "Mom, next time I get my hair cut could you just drop me off and then pick me up later?" I guess she has some issues to discuss with her hair dresser!?!
For Christmas last year we gave Amanda a little brief case style box that had little girl make-up in it. Even after our new dog used it as a chew toy, she still carries that thing around and does her make-up every chance she gets. That is one Christmas gift that dosen't owe us a dime. I have had to lay down the law when it comes to my make-up. Her aspiration in life is to wear mascara. OH BROTHER!!!
Since she turned five she has taken on some new responsibilites around the house. Before then she begged and begged to help with the dishes! So we were more than happy to oblige her and let her contribute to the household chores. Mind you of course that her doing the dishes consists of emptying the dishwasher in which she is required to put away any dishes/silverware that she can reach and the rest she stacks on the counter. Then she helps load the dishwasher as we rinse the dishes and hand them to her. Well it hasn't even beeen 6 months and she is already threatening to turn us in for child abuse:) That didn't last long! The other night I was helping her and turned around to find this:

Amanda's best friend is Sniffy. Sniffy has been with our family since December 2002. We had taken a trip to Lousianna to visit Joe's family and we needed a little blanket for her. Sniffy was adopted into our family through "Walmart Family Services" and has been Amanda's faithful companion ever since! The name Sniffy came about because she will rub the blanket on her top lip and the end of her nose. She also sucks on her tongue when she is tired. Just yesterday Sniffy started to loose her trim and needs a little repair job. What would we do without Sniffy?
Amanda just started kindergarten and is loving it! She is so excited to learn to read and do "homework" like her brothers! I'm sure that buzz will last about as long as doing the dishes. By next week she should be bored with it! She is very social and loves being with her friends each day. She has also just started dance class for the first time. Guess what color her leotards are? PINK!
Amanda loves her Daddy, Grandma & Grandpa, Sniffy, make-up, Polly Pockets, Bratz (uugh!), high heels, painted fingernails, Grandma's lipstick (since her mom dosen't own any), gum, snuggling in bed with Mommy in the morning, riding her bike (when it doesn't have a flat tire), Mac & Cheese, ALL her cousins (especially the boys!), Heather's fiance, Corey, jumping on the tramp, walking to the bus stop, Disney Princesses, playing dress-up and being the center of attention.
Amanda has brought a fun, vibrant, explosive ray of sunshine into our home. She is my little shadow and constantly tells me she wants to be a Mom just like me when she grows up. I hope she still feels that way in 15 years as being a Mom has been the greatest blessing of my life short of being a wife.
